A study in Scarlet by Canon Doyle

This is my first Sherlock Holmes book. I guess this is also the first Sherlock Holmes book by Canon Doyle.
I enjoyed reading through every page. The details, the suspense, the logics and strategies of Holmes kept my attention tight to the book.
Will I be reading another Sherlock Holmes book....Well yes of course but not in the near future. I have many important books to be read. I target to read a good deal of books this year.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I read this book "The Alchemist" many years back. Written by Paulo Coelho. On the first read it was just a story. The second day the way the climax looped to the beginning of the book felt amazing. After a few days the book had a deeper thinking impact. Triggered a series of thoughts on how it links to the series of incidents in life. How the present actually links to a past incident!!!!

This book had skipped my mind...thought of adding this to my list. Better late than never!! :P

Christianity revealed by Master Choa

I finished reading this book 3 days back.
Such intricate understanding of the teachings of Christianity revealed in such simple words.... I have no words to appreciate the transformation this book has brought. I need to read it many more times... Probably watch Master Co's video on this book can further fine tune my understanding.

Etheric Double by Author E Powel

Finish reading this book on 12th Feb 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember having borrowed this book from a friend in 2002. I found the subject so complex that I returned the book after reading...orrrr I should say after glancing the first 2 pages.

After 15yrs thankfully my mind has matured to understand and appreciate this wonderful book. I love the "to the point" approach in the book. I enjoyed reading every chapter. The insights were amazing. Impact on my healing approaches are yet to be explored. I definitely appreciate the teachings of my Guru with greater respect and gratitude.

I liked the chapter on Death the most. I found it very impactful. The Inner reflection technique from Master Choa is such an impacting method to prepare for the best moment of life.

Just to add a few words on this chapter...: Death is more like our Sprint Retrospection. As per the book, when the physical life is about to end...in those last few minutes, the soul retrospects the life. Every thought and emotion produced in life, every activity and words will flash pass. The soul tries to understand what has been the predominant thought and influence of the incarnation. Lessons learnt are documented and an affirmation made to rectify the mistakes and carry forward the good learnings to the next life.
Why wait for the death? Why not prepare for the moment to review life on a regular basis? Why not affirm to rectify the mistakes and strengthen the virtues? Regular basis can even be Daily....Hopefully what flashes at death will probably be the positive affirmations and that could probably make death more peaceful and less or no guilt to carry forward!! :)

The book is worth reading...I have 2 more A.E Powell books to read. For now I will switch to a non spiritual book. Just to strike a practical balance in the thought process of life.

Men are from Mars Women are from Venus

Finish reading this book yday. Good....not good...hmmm...dont know how to classify.
Let me list what I liked about the book:
1. The basic difference in the thinking pattern between men and women.
2. How to improve the understanding of the opposite gender.
3. How to ask for support...
4. Concept of love letter and writing the response
5. Difference in the scores men and women give.

If this book has helped people improvise the relationship....yes its true. It was worth reading....

What I didnt like about the book:
> Its too dragging. I skipped some pages, coz it was sooo repetitive.
> Tooo gender biased. Every communication and choice words have to be remembered with an additional check on whom are we talking to...man/woman
> In many places, I felt it was not justified, why the women is asked to have a greater patience....Or atleast that is the msg I derived.
> Through out the book, I had a tendency to compare the book to "Non Violent Communication" by Dr.MBR. That's a far more superior book compared to this one. Far more convincing and its irrespective of the gender.

After almost two years now...on this day (Mar 07-2017) I would like to write a different review of this book.
Consciously or subconsciously I have made some efforts to change my mode of communication. I have spoken differently to women and differently to men. I have made an attempt to use different expressions and chose different words to communicate. Not upto the mark as mentioned in this book....but just reasonably....
The results are remarkable. I am more tolerant. I can acknowledge the situation differently. My relationships have improved...especially with my father. I am glad I read this book.

The Magic by Rhonda Byrne

WOW!!!! I love this book. I sincerely went through the 28 days practice she has given in this book. And the impact is simply WOW!!!!
> It tames the mind to be focused on positive aspects in all situations.
> THANK YOU actually becomes a magical word.
> Life becomes too precious to crib....there is so much more to be thankful
> Transforming a situation to accept it positively is magical!!
> And yes the dreams and wishes are MAGICALLY materialized. I have personally tried it on 4 wishes......And it was a grand success!!!
> Now it has become a practice.

Thank You Rhonda!! :)

I have an additional point to make....
After about 2 months I wanted to practice this again. The happiness level was high, so I was anticipating that if I re-do the 28 days practice, it will start on a new level and I might experience greater inspiration. But I felt the book is just one time read. I didn't feel the same enthu on the second read....
Lets see...its been 2.5 yrs now... I will retry and update :)

The Safron Robe by Lobsang Rampa

This is another book I finished reading in the month of Sep'14. It was an interesting read. Again too wordy but the Lobsang Rampa has been very prompt with every detail and it takes you through the whole journey intensely.
I just felt it was a little too monkish. At times it put me down with a thought that the spiritual life is meant to be boring and hard...very hard....
Overall its been a very good reading. Now moving to the next in the series by the same author...."The Third Eye"

Clairvoyance by CW Leadbeater

Finished reading this book during my stay in the Ashram. It was a quick reading. CWL has always been one of my favorite writer but this book has disappointed me. Its too wordy.....
Much of the content was related to astral travel than the ability to see.....may be relevant but I was hoping for a different information. Even the useful information in the book can be consolidated to max of 2 pages.
> I like the title of the chapters that gives different types of Clairvoyantic vision.
> The ability to attract the person or recognize the person in the mental plane based on the unique vibration was nice. These vibrations can be triggered easily in this plane and there by any person can be called upon or recognized.

Though the book begins with a note that, it is not intended to prove the existence of Clairvoyance, most of the content of the book, including the testimonials are just doing that....rather than guiding through the actually info or technique on Clairvoyance.

I would give a 2 star to this book. I completed reading this, only because it was on my list.

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Just finished reading this book, I borrowed from a friend. She has rephrased the teachings and techniques of a Great Teacher without his permission.
It was a good read...a thorough revision, but I wouldn't buy this book. Success should come from truthfulness not from stealing. After all we are looking for permanent success and not temporary one...

Turning Points

WOW...India has witnessed one of the most IDEAL President. As I read this book, for the first time I see that the President need not snore in the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. They can wish to do a lot to justify and honor the position.
APJ is the president who has touched:
> MPs of the parliament in India, Africa, UK and many more
> Agricultural sector
> Army, Navy and Air Force
> Science and technology
> eGovernance
> Judiciary
> Nuclear technology
> Space technology
> Establishment and promotion of PURA
> Perfectly secular
> Gardening
> Poetry
> Authoring inspirational books........
above all he has touched humanity, peace and integrity.

Conversations With God

Just finished reading this book. And I am surely going to read it again!!!
When I started reading the book, with the first few pages....I had to pause, close the book and talk to myself. I felt the book is a fiction, pure imagination...So I told myself, I will read it as a story book....pick up the contents which is in align with my beliefs and discard the rest.....

By the time, I had completed about 20 pages of the book....I believed the contents have been derived from a reliable source and there is actually nothing much to discard.
40 Pages: I was sure the answers are from an evolved soul with rich experience of illumination. I had a very interesting experience which lasted its impact for more than a week.
A colleague at work was angry with me for some silly reason. But surprisingly, my reaction to her was very saintly.....I looked at her and acknowledged that "I the GOD is experiencing anger through her form towards I the GOD in my form. Actually, there was nothing to be angry or upset about, because we are not two different entities but the same GOD in two different physical projections." As I starred at her with no emotions, she had nothing further to trigger the anger and she left. This is something I had not expected in the wildest of my dreams. By the way....not that I was out of my sense in deep bliss at that moment. I was completely aware and the acknowledgement came to me as if it was my true nature at ease.

I had to read this book with more focus and every line was now coming to me as highly important.
The book has changed my perception about God and his availability. The truth and its authenticity. My self and my abilities to choose, control and change whats best for me. That includes: Life, society, religion, money........ and I Me Myself

When I had completed the book by 80%, I was sure GOD is actually talking to me!!!!
This book is a must read. Read it over and over again....Its a worth conversation!!!!

Some book reading from the past 3

Books By Leadbeater
Leadbeater has been one of my all time favourite author. Some of the books I have read in the past, authored by him are:
  • Dreams
  • Life After Death
  • The Astral Plane
  • The Mental Plane
  • Invisible Helpers

The information in the above books are on the same lines, but the content is distinctly unique. It gives a clear vision of why some dreams are relevant and some are not. Why some things are predictable in life, why sometimes, the situation is so inevitable. How some prayers and good will bring magical good luck and protection. How does karma impact our life and life after death, where does the soul go after the physical life is over.....!!!

Some of the other interesting books:
  • Thought Forms
  • Masters and the path
  • The Devachanic Plane

Thought forms book opens a new dimension to vision and the world around. It gives an understanding of the paranormal visions and interpretations.
The Devachanic Plane is similar to the book The Mental Plane.

Masters and the path is a must reading if you are keen on the understanding the esoteric concepts. Its the first book to be read to explore the deeper and abstract concepts of esoteric study, initiations, the path and divine plan. reading this book just once may not be sufficient. But atleast one reading is a must before you pick up other books by theosophy authored by Alice Bailey, Madam HPB......

Some book reading from the past 2

Autobiography of a Yogi

Most of us have read this book or atleast heard of it. This is one book that I took longest time to complete the reading. I have taken almost 7 years to finish reading this..... :P
No...not that the book is anyway tough to comprehend but just that I was soooo involved on every page of this book, that I just could not convince myself to read the chapter "Last Days with my Guru".........Finally I made up my mind to read through and wept like a child. The feeling was so similar to what I felt when my teacher left..........

This book can trigger spiritual interest in any soul. The direct words and perceptions of an illuminated yogi can melt any heart touch any soul....

My deepest salutation!!!

Some book reading from the past 1

Many Masters Many Lives

Even if I started to read this book with a skeptical mind, with a conviction that I will only consider this book as a fiction and just collect pearls it offers.......Convictions broke apart....The book completely took over me.

Its an intro the life of Dr. Brian Weiss (hypnotist and psychiatrist) and his patient. The treatment leads to a mysterious turn when she starts narrating her past lives. In the intermittent phase between 2 lives, she meets the higher beings, who eventually start communicating and conversing with Brian directly.

The essence of the teachings is priceless. The impact was beautiful. After reading the book, for a few days, everything in life felt like a passing by event, like a dream which will eventually break. There was a constant anticipation to witness the waking....as if all this was as unreal as a story/fiction.

Anger, frustration, disappointments and everything else felt a useless emotion. It was much easier to let go and accept as things are in the present. It was much easier to choose to be happy despite the things were not as I planned.....

It was a temporary phase....impact period but atleast I know, its possible to take life much lighter... :)

The Dalai Lama's Cat

Meow Meow!!!!
An amazing read after a long time. I feel like a meow in the monastery.
David Michie has done a splendid job in the description of the cat's perspective and yet imparting the glimpses of the immense compassion of His Holiness Dalai Lama.
For those who carry interest in spiritual read with a tinge of a light story line, this is an AWESOME book. I loved every page of this book. Didn't fall asleep even once :). Most of all....this book made me loose count of time...... Loved it!!!!

The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari

Finally I forced myself to finish reading this book. Very disappointed....
The popularity of this book is hyped so much that I was looking forward to read it. After the first 3-4 pages of the book, it could not hold my attention one bit. Thanks to my Manager, he stopped me from buying this book and let me borrow from his. Otherwise I would have cribbed as waste of money... :P

The spiritual conversations sounded more of book knowledge to me. Not much of experience essence. It was more of theoretical philosophy.... Clearly Robin Sharma didnt impress me :(

Bring Out the magic in your mind-- Al Koran

2 days ago, I finished reading the book by Al Koran "Bring out the magic in your mind"
I have mixed opinion about this book... The first 15 chapters were mind blowing...very inspiring....
The visualization techniques, the need to believe in the power of the subconscious, the power of affirmations, the booster effect of influencing the self ability to find greater happiness.....(I can go on)... were simply awesome.
I am yet to witness the success of some of my projects but what I have been experiencing is also priceless. I feel more confident, happier and prosperous...What I appreciate the most is the insight he has given in the book gives us a deep appreciation towards the teachings of Master Choa's Kriyashakthi. Simple teachings of my Guru has been embedded with such intense, deep and vast impact and meaning. These priceless teachings have been imparted to us in such simple formula, which works out so evidently. I hope to manifest the greatness with me through the better understanding of Master's KS courses gained through this book.

However, I found the chapters 16-20 quiet boring, but 21-27 were informative.
Having said that I didn't see the need to quote some of the reviews on Al Koran. Most of them were irrelevant but some of course leaves an impact to believe in the content of the book.

Over all it was worth reading.

Non Violent Communication

Finally finish reading Non Violent Communication-A language of life!!!!
AMAZING book.... its a must read!!!
My heart filled tribute to Dr. MBR for authoring it.
The book demonstrates, provokes and motivates me to practice truthfulness to the coreeeee...towards self, others and in perception!! The drastic change in the view point to see, feel and express life AS IT IS gives deep relief and happiness that comes within.
The key to read the book is to go slow....Allow the message to sink in as deep as it can. There is absolutely no hurry to rush through the pages. You may also want to slow down in talking after the book has left its impact. Its not very hard to practice, but the first few steps could be hard to break the old norms and tendencies....I want to believe that the more I practice, I am likely to end most of my complications in life :)

Yes reading the book is the first step, whats more important is to imbibe the spirit of truthfulness. Now, every sentence I phrase opens a new angle of self understanding. This book has brought me one step closer to myself.

And what do I say about Marshal Rosenberg...... He certainly is an evolved soul who has shown that just the right usage of words, right sentences phrased will heal the deep self and transform the world around. What a way of illumination!!!! BRAVO....!!!! Yes though the book is simply about communication, my heart has sensed a lot of spiritual revealings in Dr.MBR and his book!!! A BIG THANK YOU :)
